@alercah @RichFelker ok I gave it a look & I didn't realize the "bug from 20 years ago" was the famous bug 323; that makes me rather nervous about changing it… bug 323 holds a special place in GCC lore; while it'd be great to see it fixed, I fear that that happening would signal the end times…On twitter.com
