I mean, I agree with the "Bernie Sanders didn’t revive the American Left in 2016" part, because it was already alive: the Iraq War protests and Occupy Wall Street were both things the left organized on our own.

Sure, he supported us in both of 'em, but he wasn't really leading either of 'em like he's doing with the movement now. I think the power vacuum wasn't created so much by Warren refusing to run in 2016 as it was due to the movement's preferences to remain leaderless previously

Which is why the whole #NotMeUs motto is actually kind of ironic: while Bernie does actually mean it sincerely, it used to be more true back before leftists decided we wanted a leader and made it him.

As for WHY the left decided it suddenly wanted a leader, I think that comes more out of the "Occupy failed because it was leaderless" narrative than anything else. Sure, it's a debatable narrative, but it affected people's thinking nonetheless.
