          1. Since @ActiVoteUS now follows me I'm going to do a thread on their questions where I responded "none of the above" to more fully explain my actual positions

On veterans' health, I support making government healthcare available to everyone, which means combining all the current government health programs (Medicare, Medicaid, the VHA) into one. We need to ensure universal healthcare to everyone, not just our vets.

also "access" to care is not the same thing as care itself; it's one of those weasel words that lets centrists pretend they're providing universal healthcare when they're not.

Re: NAFTA: I thought we already renegotiated it in the form if the USMCA, so I'd think the question should be updated to ask about that instead. Sure, you can argue that the USMCA didn't actually change much from NAFTA, but it at least has a different name now.

re: plastic bottle bans: plastic bottle bans often come along with bans on other single-use plastics such as drinking straws, and I have heard from disability rights activists that some disabled people actually need plastic straws to be able to drink.

Since I am including disability rights in the platform I am running on, I would want to make sure that any new restrictions on single-use plastics (such as bottles) ensures that disabled people will still be able to drink with the straws they need.

Re: an assault weapons ban: The first response is probably closest to what I'd say, except it shouldn't just be on civilian-owned firearms, but on those owned by law enforcement as well. We can't disarm the public unless we also disarm the police.

As to how to do this, I'd look at international nuclear deproliferation agreements (such as START) as a model. If we can negotiate such large-scale arms reduction treaties on the global stage, we can do so at home, as well.

Re: the Individual Mandate in Obamacare: I support Medicare For All, so the question of how the Individual Mandate has been handled under Obamacare would become largely irrelevant once it's been replaced with #M4A

Re: a Jobs Guarantee: I prefer Unconditional Basic Income over a Jobs Guarantee. If we can't get UBI, a JG would be fine as well, but I object to the way the most pro-JG response is worded here.

Framing a Jobs Guarantee as a "Right To Work" only gives room for people trying to pass the union-busting bills currently referred to as "Right To Work" room to wiggle their own agendas in. We shouldn't be guaranteeing jobs unless we can also guarantee that they're union.

.@MattBruenig had a thread on how R2W advocates are already trying to worm their way into the Jobs Guarantee movement, but since he deletes old tweets I can't seem to find it right now. Anyone know if he published something at @PplPolicyProj about it?

Re: the Hatch Act: I don't really care; any of these would be fine. The Hatch Act only really matters if Congress chooses to enforce it, and as we've seen from how hard it's been to get them to impeach Trump on other charges, I doubt they'd enforce this, either.

College should be free, and the price of college is in more than just the tuition. There's room and board (which admittedly is less of an issue for schools moving to all-remote learning during COVID), and also all sorts of other fees that universities like to tack on.
