    1. Dang, I thought with this new laptop, the @gnutools GCC testsuite would go quicker, but it's still really long-running... maybe I should try -j16 next time instead of just -j8... (it's an 8-core machine but I've seen other packages end up using -j16 anyways, so...)

    actually I think the issue is that the new OS means I need to use the new caffeinate executable to keep the computer awake while the testsuite runs; on my old computer the testsuite would just keep the computer awake on its own...
