    1. One of the annoying things about being a candidate (well, rep-elect now) is that that fact makes a lot of the advice I'd want to give the national and state party look hypocritical, since it's not exactly advice I'd take myself in my own district.

For example: the results of the FL min. wage ballot q. combined w/the rest of their electoral results seem to tell me that economically-left measures can pass when they're not tied to socially-left candidates, which'd suggest that maybe Dems should ease up on the culture war.

However, that's not advice I'd ever take myself, as my district is extremely socially liberal, and if I ever agreed to compromise on social issues to get my economic priorities passed, I'd be doing a disservice to the constituents I'm supposed to be representing.

At the state level here in NH, downballot Rs riding Sununu's coattails shows that fearmongering about income taxes still works in NH politics. However, that's not going to stop me from supporting one, since I can get away with that in my district. The rest of the state can't tho.
