@sopbeen @mattparlmer my major problem with the political compass is that people spend too much time placing themselves on the chart and not enough time specifying which of the other quadrants they'd ally themselves with

@sopbeen @mattparlmer for example I place myself in the authleft quadrant, but as an authleft who'd prefer to get a winning coalition by allying w/the libleft, that makes me very different from an authleft who'd prefer to ally w/the authright, even if our own individual dots'd fall on the same coords

@sopbeen @mattparlmer Another problem comes from the accuracy/precision distinction (or what counts as a "group" of arrows in archery): someone who is a centrist because all their positions are centrist is very different from someone whose positions are all extremist but in opposite directions...
