David Malcolm has done some really great contributions to GCC’s diagnostics system, including the addition of a static analyzer, so if he is on board with calls to remove RMS, then I am, too: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235096.html

Yeah RedHat pulling their donations to the FSF is kind of a big deal; people who don’t support removing RMS on the merits could at least support removing him on the consequentialist basis of getting RedHat back to donating: redhat.com/en/blog/red-hat-statement-about-richard-stallmans-return-free-software-foundation-board

Yeah Marek is another good contributor to GCC and has been pretty good about fixing bugs I’ve filed; having him on board is helping me remain convinced: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235094.html

Some of Alexandre Oliva’s counterpoints here are fair, but calling the people calling for RMS’s removal a “regime of terror” is hard to believe when he continues contributing to the project anyways in a decidedly non-terrorized fashion: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235101.html

Siddhesh Poyarekar is more of a glibc person than a gcc person, but he’s another voice I trust, so my count of people replying in this thread whose voices I value on each side of the issue is now 4 for his removal, 1 against: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235104.html

Mark Wielaard is a name I often see in the history of libiberty and gdb, so his decision to take the pro-removal side brings my count to 5 to 1: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235121.html

Martin Liška actually thanks me for my cc-ing of him on bugs relevant to him on the GCC Bugzilla occasionally, so his agreement with Nathan brings the count to 6 to 1: gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235106.html

Jeff Law is the guy who basically approves everyone’s patches; without him, the GCC project would grind to a halt. 7 to 1. gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235128.html

Martin Jambor does important work on inter-procedural analysis. He brings my count to 8 to 1. gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc/2021-March/235108.html

So yeah I think I’m going to go sign that open letter now.

…except, darn, they’re no longer taking new signatures via pull request…
