        1. Been thinking about the Federal Job Guarantee vs. UBI debate... one of the common criticisms of a FJG is, how is the govt going to come up with enough pointless makework jobs for everyone? Which is a valid point, but, what if we didn't actually rely on govt to create the jobs?

        What if instead, the govt just banned job applications, and said that companies have to hire anyone who asks? The response to that is that often companies don't have enough money to pay everyone, but what if the govt handled THAT part?

      i.e., what if the law basically said, "hire anyone who asks to work for you, no questions asked, and we'll cover the costs of paying anyone you can't pay yourself"? It doesn't become a command economy because people still decide where to work, but, unlike UBI or a FJG... well...
