      @Noahpinion I'd disagree about Americans who get into Japanese fantasy not connecting w/the actual country of Japan; Miiverse in particular was a great site for building American-Japanese connections while it was still alive, and a lot of those trans-national connections survived to Twitter

    @Noahpinion getting involved with a fandom around a Japanese property will inevitably mean interacting with a lot of actual Japanese people who are also part of that fandom online, just look at how good fanart gets retweeted regardless of language.
