The Merrimack County Delegation of the NH House is having a meeting today; we’re still doing things hybrid at the county level, so I’ll be attending by Zoom. I’ll be livetweeting starting here. #NHPolitics
-
(County Delegation meetings are usually pretty boring compared to state-level House meetings, so there might not be too much to tweet about; we’ll see)
-
…actually, it looks like the meeting starts an hour later than I thought it did, so I think I might try to attend in-person after all…
-
ok I have arrived in-person... I'd say the non-masked outnumber the masked here today...
-
(there's a bunch of people attending remotely, though, so I bet if they were here in person, those of us masking would outnumber the unmasked)
-
ok we’re starting now
-
I only got this giant packet of materials for today’s meeting yesterday; dunno how we were supposed to be able to review it all in time..
-
there is a line item in this budget whose description says “dont use”
-
(it’s $0 anyways so I guess it works out?)
-
I wish I’d gotten this budget earlier so I’d have time to review it with others… anyways, 0% tax increase projected for next year’s county budget, since rising property valuations means property taxes generate more revenue without raising rates
-
Concord pays the highest portion of the county’s taxes, making up 25% of the county’s total pie
-
There are a lot of vacancies for county positions open currently, particularly at the county nursing home, so if you are looking for work, consider applying!
-
Merrimack County has a vaccine mandate in place for its nursing home; 15 people quit, by my math that’s like just 2.5% of total current budgeted positions, so not much!
-
the positions Merrimack County is trying to fill vacancies for are in Boscawen, so they’re considering a transportation program to help people get there
-
we’re doing a continuing resolution now; subcommittees will be taking closer looks at parts of the budget later in a few months
-
continuing resolution passes (I think that was unanimously?), no further business for the regular county delegation… the executive committee of the delegation has its own meeting immediately following
-
…I don’t think I actually need to continue to be here for this executive committee portion?
-
ok well that part’s done, too; time to leave…
