                  1. Before I start today’s session thread, I’m going to do a mini-thread for the hearing notice emails I didn’t manage to fit into yesterday’s session thread

The Municipal & County Government committee will be having a hearing on Thursday, 1/13/22, in LOB room 301-303. I don’t have any bills of my own at this hearing, but it’s the committee upon which I sit. It overlaps with the Labor hearing I mentioned yesterday, so… idk…

The Municipal & County Government committee will ALSO be having a hearing the following week, on Thursday, 1/20/22, in the same room. This time I do actually have a bill I’m on before it; @OmgEgan’s compost bill. Luckily this one doesn’t seem to overlap with anything yet…

HB1648, @tonylabranche’s bill for colleges/universities to develop peer support groups for students with mental health conditions (which I’m cosponsoring), will be heard before the Education Committee on Tuesday, 1/11/22, in LOB room 205-207.

HB1273, my #SOFTWAREAct, will be heard by the Executive Departments and Administration committee, ALSO on Tuesday 1/11/22, in LOB room 302-304. At least there’s a bit of a gap here, so I ought to still be able to make the education one, too, by just running between rooms…

Unfortunately, with the hearing approaching so soon, I’m not going to have time to draft and introduce an amendment to it like I’d wanted to, so @wmarshcc8 and I are going to have to decide how we want to proceed with it… (also why didn’t this go before the SciTech Committee?)

One more thing about this ED&A hearing, is that immediately after my bill is scheduled, next is @eukreign own open source bill, which is essentially a much milder version of my #SOFTWAREAct, and which I’m also cosponsoring.

My hope is that, even if my #SOFTWAREAct doesn’t make it this term, hearing it first will at least soften people up a bit so Lex’s can pass, and then we can come back to mine later. Although, if BOTH our bills pass, well… I’m not sure what happens? They might conflict a bit…

Anyways, back to other hearings… CACR15, @tonylabranche’s Constitutional Amendment to let 17-year-olds vote in primaries for general elections they’ll be 18 for, will be heard by the Election Law committee on Thursday, 1/13/22, in LOB room 306-308.

This is my THIRD overlap for next Thursday (along with Labor, & my own Municipal and County Government committee), so I’m not really sure how I’m going to juggle all of them yet…

HB1144, my labor history bill, will be heard before the Education committee on Tuesday, 1/18/22, in LOB room 205-207. And… I think that’s it for now.

Anyway, a reminder that all these hearings are open to the public, and even though we’ll be meeting mainly in person, I *think* there might still be an option for remote testimony? In any case, if any of these bills sound interesting to you, please come testify on behalf of them!
