While I support the sharing of code such as the formulae being used here, such sharing should be done in a free and open manner so that everyone can see the formulae and request changes to them. The problem here is that the sharing was being done secretly, rather than out in the open. This allowed those in power (the schools) to gain an unfair advantage over those w/out it (the applicants). When sharing, it should be done equally w/everyone, rather than as a conspiracy.

Of course, the best formula would also be the simplest one: #CollegeForAll. Then there wouldn’t be any need for schools to share financial aid formulae, because that would all be handled by the government instead.
