At today’s MCG hearing we’ll be hearing my bill to require compost and recycling in public housing, among other bills. Livetweet thread starts here. #NHPolitics
-
scheduled first is HB1070, about some local budgeting procedure
-
Rep. Ralph Boehm of Litchfield is introducing HB1070 to us.
-
I'm guessing that's @rgboehm, although it doesn't look like that account has been kept up-to-date?
-
This bill would just apply to SB2 towns, and I live in a city, so... well, I'll defer to my colleagues who live in towns for what to think of HB1070
-
Katherine Heck of the NHMA has testimony against HB1070 on technical grounds
-
SB2 style of town meeting info available here: revenue.nh.gov/mun-prop/municipal/sb2-assistance.htm
-
List of SB2 towns: revenue.nh.gov/mun-prop/municipal/documents/sb2-towns-12.31.20.pdf
-
We have someone from DRA here to handle questions the NHMA doesn't know the answer to
-
DRA guy is @BruceKneuer
-
some dispute over what exactly the blue sheet numbers were... some people might have signed in twice?
-
.@joshyokela is here to introduce HB1087 to us, which @LaurelStavis, @leewakeroxenham, and @RepMcWilliams are cosponsoring. Bipartisan support!
-
this is a bill about minimum lot sizes
-
Last year it was HB132: @cooljeanius/1359174458221727748
-
.@nhrealtors supports HB1087.
-
Guy from @nhrealtors is Chris Norwood... who doesn't actually appear to be listed on their staff list on their website?
-
.@NatchGreyes of the NHMA opposes HB1087 for their usual reasons. Blue sheet numbers for the bill are 28 in support, 7 in opposition, and 3 neutral.
-
.@joshyokela has another bill for us: HB1098, limiting parking requirements. Kinda similar to my #YIGBY bill (HB1219), except for housing in general
-
ok sounds like Rep. Yokela doesn't see any conflict with my #YIGBY bill; good!
-
there's an amendment to HB1098 that just inserts the word "off-street" to clarify the type of parking spaces it's talking about, btw
-
.@ivyvann has a question about the @Parking_Reform Network.
-
To clarify why there is overlap between me and libertarians on this issue, despite me generally opposing libertarians: I believe governments should require good things of people, and should not require bad things of people. Parking requirements are bad.
-
.@NatchGreyes of the NHMA opposes HB1098 for the usual reasons (opposition to statewide zoning mandates)
-
Next @OmgEgan is here to introduce HB1122 to us, which would authorize municipalities to collect and resell construction and demolition debris.
-
HB1122 seems like a good idea to me!
-
John Tuthill is here to respond to some points raised in questions to previous testimony
-
term to look up: "pyrolysis"
-
There's some concerns about a freight rail project in Claremont for shipping these kinds of debris
-
witness would support an amendment with clarifying language for the Claremont case.
-
.@NatchGreyes of the NHMA has testimony in favor of HB1122 since it's enabling legislation.
-
We're running a bit behind; this was supposed to be the time slot for my bill, but instead we're on HB1155, on local board membership. Rep. Torosian is introducing it to us.
-
Wondering if the account for Rep. Torosian is @PeterTorosian? @BouldinAmanda you follow; can you confirm?
-
Update: On Monday I was trying to find Barb Griffin's account, but was unsure if I had it right; now I've found a different one that I think is more likely to be her: @BGriffinNH @cooljeanius/1490738918660128768
-
I hope we get to my bill before we break for lunch...
-
.@NatchGreyes of the NHMA has testimony for us against HB1155
-
Why is this taking so long? HB1155 basically only changes a single line; it's pretty simple
-
lunch break time...
-
took a bit of time to get lunch; I got back late... I shouldn't have asked for the break to be quick; didn't realize it'd be a full lunch break (I brought a neighbor with me who I wanted to make sure we didn't keep waiting)
-
ok I gave my testimony; will stop by OLS afterwards to do some amendments
-
my neighbor Virginia is testifying in favor of my compost and recycling bill...
-
blue sheet numbers aren't looking too good for it, though...
-
next is HB1617, which Rep. Adjutant wants to withdraw due to it not being drafted to fit his intentions, so we don't need to spend much time on it.
-
ok I think we're done?
