    @Cheesemeister3k well in RBG’s case it wouldn’t affect her, since she never had to stand for re-election. And it wouldn’t result in a loser landing in office, since the winner would still be seated, just rendered ineligible for re-election.

      @Cheesemeister3k and then during that next election, the winner of *that* re-election would still be seated, too, although it wouldn’t be the first person anymore (but it *could* still be whoever they choose to succeed them)

        @Cheesemeister3k idk, maybe it’s too complicated and I’m not expressing it clearly enough… but then again, Virginia’s form of term limits where it only applies to consecutive terms is pretty complicated itself, so, maybe people could learn it?
