To people arguing that NH is too white to continue to stay #FITN: that is a fair criticism, which is why I sponsored HB1294, to direct the commission on demographics to try to increase our state’s diversity so that we can keep our #FITN primary: @Maggie_Hassan/1514403363529666561

Unfortunately, due to a scheduling mixup, I missed the hearing for the bill, & it ended up getting killed, due to the fact that last year’s budget had actually eliminated the commission on demographics entirely, meaning I was trying to give new duties to a now-nonexistent body.

My hope is that next year @TimothyHorrigan and I can do a new bill to at least bring the state’s commission on demographics back into existence, even if we can’t get my proposed diversity language added to it (although I certainly hope that we can!) #NHPolitics

For reference, here’s how my original idea for HB1294 started out as a draft idea on GitHub; I also considered doing a study committee, and then possibly providing a statutory basis for @GovChrisSununu’s DEI Council (which a bunch of people resigned from): github.com/cooljeanius/legislation/blob/master/structural_and_misc/diversity.txt

So basically, to sum up: If NH loses our #FITN primary, don’t blame Dems, blame the GOP for removing our commission on demographics, thus weakening our chances of diversifying, and for passing the anti-CRT legislation that led to the mass resignations from Sununu’s DEI Council.
