Executive Session for the rest of my committee's crossover bills from the Senate today; will be livetweeting as usual
-
This is continued from our Executive Session on the 18th; SB400 got put off from then until now: @cooljeanius/1516053000976048139
-
kind of a tangent but I think Hollywood does us a disservice by setting all its political dramas in Washington, DC, where all the politicians are well-groomed and have perfectly-fitted suits; politics at the state level has people looking a lot more ordinary and shabbier
-
(and yes I include myself in the people I'm calling "shabby"; I *like* being able to get away with old and worn-out clothing. Attribute it to that "Yankee frugality" people are raised with here, I guess)
-
also I wish we had a bigger State House Press Corps; so much stuff goes unreported here... (to be clear, I'm not blaming our existing reporters for anything here; they do a great job with the time they have. The problem is just that there aren't enough of them for all of us)
-
Substitutes today: Reps Merner and Moffett on the GOP side; Rep. Treleaven is missing on the Dem side
-
Apparently "interim study as amended" isn't a proper motion, so the amendment got stripped off of (one of) the bills we exec-ed last time
-
Yeah I think that was SB249 that was meant: @cooljeanius/1516073187041239045
-
I regretted my vote on the amendment to that anyways, so I'm not too upset to see it gone: @cooljeanius/1516072990533955587
-
Anyways we're discussing an amendment to SB329 that Rep. Piemonte proposed now; some confusion about germaneness
-
basically Rep. Piemonte wants to add something about local tax cap overrides to the latest proposed housing study committee
-
hearing on SB329: @cooljeanius/1512169930682249217
-
all the support for the bill was as unamended: @cooljeanius/1512173542883930119
-
The way that Rep. Piemonte is getting around the germaneness rule is by including one germane part along with all the non-germane stuff
-
I'm reminded of the last time we had a germaneness kerfuffle; let's see if I can find it...
-
yeah it was about the "purple paint" bill: @cooljeanius/1421935822408982528
-
that was last May: @cooljeanius/1391744469595312129
-
"germane" and "germaneness" are different search terms apparently, so that's why my first search didn't find this: @cooljeanius/1391746296973860870
-
same thing with "germane" vs. "non-germane": @cooljeanius/1394334403179028482
-
some confusion over which bill this amendment's language is descended from; HB1194 apparently? Let's see if I've said anything about that previously...
-
yeah that was from February: @cooljeanius/1496546012495859716
-
well before our committee at least; full House voted on it in March: @cooljeanius/1504535058782339084
-
dunno why if it already passed the House, we have to go attaching it to a separate Senate Bill, too...
-
The clerk confirmed for us, btw, that he hadn't actually seen this amendment to this bill...
-
oops looks like I forgot to include the #NHPolitics hashtag at the top of the thread; it's applicable throughout
-
what a procedural mess...
-
I am thankful for @nhhouseclerk's expertise and wish he could just run this committee for us instead...
-
apologies to all the people sitting in the audience for having to sit through this all
-
amendment passes along party lines, 10-8
-
-
we're trying to add a separate amendment from @rosemarierung but... argle-bargle...
-
Okay it looks like we can vote on Rep. Rung's amendment; apparently this just adds some clarifications that @TeamRebeccaNH wanted to add
-
Rep. Rung's amendment fails along party lines, 10-8; time to vote on the bill as a whole as amended with the majority amendment
-
boy will the recommendations for this one be a pain to right up
-
SB329 passes as amended along party lines, 10-8... onto SB334
-
hearing for SB334: @cooljeanius/1512176618042798092
-
SB334 passes unanimously and goes on the consent calendar
-
a little bit of a break before we get to our final bill, SB400 (the housing toolbox)
-
ok here comes the latest amendment to SB400
-
ugh they're trying to sneak in more poison pills here, too
-
they're trying to add language from some other bills we'd already voted on here
-
so yeah they're trying to put language from HB1268 and HB1272 in here: @cooljeanius/1498306716555005959
-
HB1393, too: @cooljeanius/1504543749464104966
-
it's becoming another "Christmas Tree" bill
-
I *had* been supporting SB400 previously, but if this amendment to it passes...
-
The amendment passed along party lines, 10-8; time to vote on the entire bill as amended...
-
Republicans are trying to make it look like we're opposing housing here when we're ready just opposing the poison pills they're trying to sneak in
-
SB400 passes as amended, along party lines, 10-8... time to adjourn. How frustrating...
