      @JasonSorens So, to be clear, the amendment is mostly just a poison pill *to Democrats*. The bills from which the amendment was drawn were all horrible policy, but given our current crop of House Republicans, it may very well actually make it more likely to pass with solely GOP votes now.

    @JasonSorens What’s lost here was a chance at bipartisanship: without the amendment, the bill could have passed with votes from both parties, but now instead it’s just a House GOP “Christmas Tree”

      @JasonSorens it’s not so much that they’re trying to kill the bill as it is they’re trying to control the narrative for campaign season: they want to be able to say “hey here’s this time where we supported housing and Dems didn’t” even though what Dems were actually objecting to was their BS.
