      1. I am seeing calls to ban body armor in the wake of the recent shootings. I do not think this is the right approach. If someone wants to defend themselves against guns without buying a gun themselves, body armor is often the only choice available. Just ban the guns, not the armor.

Now if we want to do a ban on people owning both guns and body armor simultaneously? Sure, that could work. Make people choose: it’s either one or the other. Make body armor stores ask if you own a gun when purchasing, and gun stores ask if you own body armor when purchasing.

When I bought my body armor (to protect myself from all the psychos who like to carry at the State House), the salesguy pretty much only just asked for contact info, there wasn’t a background check or gun ownership check or anything. He just let me buy it easily.

He even took my word for it that I was a State Rep and gave me a State Rep discount without asking me for my State Rep ID or anything. While I’m glad I was able to make this purchase, there definitely could have been more friction added to the process, to ensure I was legit.
