        @CurtLaFond yeah and well I guess it goes to the differences in what different people mean by “Massholes”: for some it’s the tourists / 2nd home people, for others it’s the libertarians trying to avoid paying taxes (there's overlap), and for the GOP it's a stand-in for their paranoia...

      @CurtLaFond In fact there’s probably a racial element to it when Republicans complain about Massachusetts: MA being more diverse is probably why the GOP conspiracy theories of voters being bused in from out-of-state have them coming from MA rather than VT or ME…

    @CurtLaFond so yeah I agree that Dems need to be more precise when we complain about Massachusetts to make sure that we’re not playing into the same racist tropes that Republicans use when they do so. It’s that whole “punching up vs. punching down” distinction that we need to be mindful of
