I remember a previous Fourth of July running into a guy known as "Crabby" known for swimming at Sewall's Falls and talking to him about how high the river was running lately, and him acknowledging how dangerous it was getting, and then he drowned in it himself the next day...Permalink On twitter.com

Yeah this was the story: wmur.com/article/concord-man-drowns-in-merrimack-river/5182859 He was aware of the dangers! In fact I even remember him protecting others there, acting as kind of an unofficial lifeguard, and yet still wound up drowning there himself…On twitter.com
