      1. So, re: Gunstock: let's take a look back on this @laconiadailysun article that ran in @ConMonitorNews last October: concordmonitor.com/Gunstock-panel-seeks-to-oust-member-over-conflict-claims-43207570

"Tom Quarles, an attorney hired by the commission that oversees the county-owned Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford found [Peter] Ness repeatedly tried to sell his snow sports instruction software program to the ski area and disrupted ski instructors, reducing one to tears."

He was literally out on the slopes trying to push his software on people, which I can only assume was proprietary. He'd have a lot less of an incentive to do that if we had a "buy FOSS" mandate for governmental entities. (Yes, you can still sell free (libre) software)

He still could have got money for his work on the software if it'd been FOSS, but there would've been no reason to try to lock the resort into an exclusivity deal if it were open for anyone to improve.

"For his part, Ness said in a memo to the delegation that there was no conflict because nothing was sold." Well yeah, if you fail at your corruption attempt, you still tried it. Attempted crimes are just as much crimes as successful ones.

Anyways the point of bringing this up is that Ness is on the Silber/Strang/Sylvia side of the conflict; Silber's quest for control of Gunstock isn't really about principles or anything, it's just so he can do corruption with his buddy Ness.
