This is part of why the #SOFTWAREAct I proposed this year would've prevented teachers from requiring students to use proprietary software. Sure, someone could theoretically create FOSS activity-monitoring software, but in that case the students could just edit it to get around it @drewharwell/1554809603774418944

Anyways, the legislation may have died this year, but I intend to break it up into smaller pieces to try again next year; the education portion ought to be its own separate "piece" under this strategy.
