  1. OK, so, let’s say I *do* decide to sign up for Mastodon… which instance should I choose? Last time I signed up for a distributed social network (GNUSocial), my particular instance (LoadAverage) died soon after, so I’d prefer to avoid that happening again if possible…

      So I’m checking instances.social and it doesn’t really seem that helpful, tbh… it keeps putting non-English Mastodons in my results even though I asked for English-speaking ones, doesn’t seem to obey the “Min Users” selector, and sorts them in a seemingly random order…

        Well on joinmastodon.org/servers their language selector at least seems to work; I still don’t have any idea how I’m supposed to choose between all of these, though…
