Current amendment: 1339h, which Chris Muns is introducing and speaking to. It's about whether to fund UNH's Whittemore Center more, or to put that money towards student aid. (Budget would do the former, this amendment would do the latter)

Next is amendment 1299h, about border funding. @alirodmur is speaking in favor of it. I think that we do need to spend more for the North Country, but not for fearmongering about immigration, so I support this amendment to remove this program.

Personally my preferred policy for the northern border would be to have the Pittsburg-Chartierville crossing be open 24/7, so that people can come thru legally regardless of when they arrive, but as far as I'm aware, the program this amendment cuts doesn't do that.

Current amendment: 1276h, which JR Hoell is speaking to. It would expand EFA eligibility to raise the percentage of the poverty level under which people have to be to qualify from 300% to 500%. IOW, it's another privatization attempt

Like, yeah, I get that public-private partnerships often end up with you getting the worst of both worlds instead of the best of both worlds (I think we should nationalize the railways, personally), but I'd want to see a viable replacement before we defund this one
