                                                      1. Ok I left the NHPR thing to get over to the LOB for my committee's final executive session of this year's crossover; we've got 2 bills left, so this might be a short thread. Although, one of them is controversial (SB132, the anti-sanctuary one), so, who knows... #NHPolitics

Subs today: someone (missed name) for Guthrie, @rosemarierung in for @LathaMangipudi, and @jonahowheeler in for Al Howland... Guthrie being out might result in a different outcome here...

btw I think I saw that Rep. Preece had recently created an account on here, but I can't seem to find it at the moment... if anyone on the #NHPolitics hashtag can tag him in for me, I'd appreciate it

Rep. Pauer's amendment is trying to rebrand sanctuary policies as "restrictive policies"

Rep. Yokela is listing some concerns with the amendment; sounds like he might join Dems in voting against it?

yeah he says he opposes this specific amendment, but remains open to working on further amendment

Rep. Lascelles supports the amendment; he mentions about the media bringing immigration to the forefront of people's minds, which reminds me of when he had Fox News blaring in the background when we were on Zoom meetings in 2021, and was mourning Rush Limbaugh's death

ok the Rep. subbing for Rep. Guthrie is Rep. Sellers
    1. …in reply to @cooljeanius
Rep. Sellers signaled support for the bill, which confirms my suspicion that his substitution for Rep. Guthrie is probably giving the anti-sanctuary side an extra vote, as Rep. Guthrie is a "local control" type Republican who wouldn't like being restricted as a selectperson

IMO the term "illegals" should only be used to refer to people when it means adherents to the philosophy of illegalism, such as the Bonnot Gang: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegalism
        1. …in reply to @cooljeanius
ITL motion on the bill *also* fails with a 10-10 tie... so Rep. Yokela wants neither OTP nor ITL on this bill... so what *does* he want on it, then?
          1. …in reply to @cooljeanius
ok so there are no further motions on the bill, so it will go to the floor without recommendation

ok, adjourned (just as my phone's battery gets down to 1%); we're done with committee business until the period for returning to retained bills

btw, to address the point about unchecked immigration potentially leading to "chaos", I'd just like to remind people that the "Chaotic Good" character alignment exists: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChaoticGood
